About McSenderson
We're Ryan and Michelle, and we make scratch-off adventure maps in Flagstaff, Arizona.
That's the whole company. The two of us, two kids, and a garage that stopped holding a car sometime in 2023.
We wanted a map to track the resorts we'd skied. What we could find was either a $19 poster that looked like a dorm room, or a $400 print with twelve resorts on it and no way to mark the ones you'd been to.
So we made one. A color-in poster, drawn late at night after the first kid went down. It wasn't very good. People wanted one anyway.
The scratch-off version came next, and that's when it clicked. The map isn't a decoration, it's a scoreboard. You hang it where you'll walk past it, and it starts nagging you about the places you haven't been.
We put it on Etsy in 2024 and had over 100 five-star reviews before we had a website.
Ryan has been skiing for over a decade (mostly black diamond and off-piste, still getting humbled by moguls) AND plays to a single-digit handicap at Continental Country Club here in Flagstaff.
The golf maps came out of a long-running obsession with course architecture and Arizona golf history. Continental. Elephant Rocks. Antelope Hills.
That matters more than it sounds. When we built the Top 100 US Public Courses map and the state Top 50s for California, Arizona, and Colorado, we verified every course, city, and architect by hand. A few took real digging. We cut courses we couldn't confirm rather than guess at them.
Same discipline on the ski side. There are over 480 ski resorts in the United States. Getting to 50 meant weighing acreage, vertical, snowfall, and terrain, and then one thing no spreadsheet captures: whether the place makes you want to call in sick on a Tuesday. That's how Bridger Bowl and Mt. Baker made the cut over resorts three times their size.
Scratch-off maps for skiing, golf, national parks, and state-level outdoor adventure, plus adventure journals.
Every map is designed by us. Printed in the USA on 300gsm glossy stock, 18" × 24". Ships in new custom McSenderson heavy-duty tubes.
We're not a print-on-demand shop reselling stock lists, and we don't license artwork. Every list on every map got researched, argued about, and cut down by two people who have been to a lot of these places.
